Location Sound Recordist request received
I currently work as a location sound recordist in Western NC and the surrounding areas when I’m not engaged in building our first log cabin. In the early months of 2025, I had the opportunity to be a part of filming a four part true crime documentary. Some of the filming occurred about an hour from where I now live and some occurred in Florida, including the swamps. Generally I travel within about a 5 hour driving radius for work, but occasionally I will go farther for the right projects.
Although I do appreciate the outdoors, I can’t say that I was sorry to miss the parts of filming that occurred in the swamps. My wife and I lived in Charleston, SC for about 20 years before moving here. Navy divers would often talk about being able to find megalodon teeth in the creek beds there, but the thought of an alligator surprising me during a treasure hunt always kept me from pursuing it.
True crime television and film can be a mixed experience. It’s helpful to learn of the things that occur out there in the world, but at the same time interviewees have to relive a part of their trauma from the past. A single interview can take a whole day or more to film and it’s often a very solemn experience. If you are interested in this type of programming though, I think you will find this mini series well worth the watch.
The project premiered Wednesday July 30th on Hulu!
