Production Sound Mixer request received
In June of 2025, I received an inquiry for work as a production sound mixer in Spruce Pine, a part of Western North Carolina about an hour northeast of Asheville. Spruce Pine is only 20 minutes from where my wife and I are building our first log cabin. so I was lucky enough to be a great fit for recording the audio. The project features the work of linemen conducting Hurricane Helene recovery efforts, highlighting the role that skilled trades play during restoration from natural disasters.
A couple of things I learned during the production include the value of pursuing work in these fields and the contribution that these individuals make in emergencies. There is a current shortage of workers in this part of the US economy. The jobs are high demand, high pay, low supply of workers. If you know of men and women that enjoy a balance of physical and mental activity for work, the skilled trades are definitely worth investigation.
